HEAT was launched by the Queensland Government of Australia in 2008 to represent the environmental architectural talent of Queensland, Australia’s fastest growing State. HEAT has worked both at home and abroad to showcase the wealth of architectural expertise currently practicing in Queensland promoting the state as a creative design destination.
Since launching in 2008 at the Venice Biennale, HEAT has helped to increase the export of Queensland architecture by 70 percent, while participating businesses have increased their international and domestic revenue by 25 percent. Influential critics and design media world wide have sat up and taken notice, with the initiative generating over £1 million worth of international media coverage.
